WHAT WE DO
Priorities & Activities
At HTC, our work is guided by a simple yet powerful vision—a world where healing is normalized and every young person, family, and community has the tools to thrive.
To achieve this, we focus on 3 interconnected priorities: healing individuals, strengthening families, and transforming systems.
Our Priorities
Evaluation & Evidence: We conduct clinical and community assessments to identify needs, measure outcomes, and ensure every initiative is data-driven.
Education & Skills Development: We deliver workshops, trainings, and leadership opportunities that prepare youth, families, and professionals for resilience and long-term success.
Advocacy & Policy: We work to advance equity and trauma-responsive practices in schools, organizations, and communities.
Resources & Support Networks: We connect individuals and families with holistic services, peer support, and wellness opportunities that prevent burnout, stress, and illness.
Our Activities
Based on our priorities, HTC provides a wide range of programs and services:
Youth Development & Leadership: Programs like Mind-Body Fit, VocationVision, and civic engagement initiatives build resilience, leadership skills, and career pathways for youth to advance and rise above challenging circumstances.
Community Health & Wellness: MOVERS PLWC memberships, quarterly case studies & monthly cleanse challenges, and biopsychosocial case management promote healing and whole-person wellness.
Capacity Building for Nonprofits: My Nonprofit is a Business helps youth-serving organizations grow sustainably and operate like thriving corporations.
Creative & Cultural Innovation: The Business of Artistry incubator empowers young artists to monetize healing-based talents while building professional portfolios.
Education & Chronic Health Advocacy: Chronic Health Series and school-based fitness/education programs support youth stakeholders and individuals managing lifelong conditions.
Services for Organizations & Communities: We offer corporate wellness programs, professional development, workshops, vocational and mental health counseling services.
Media & Engagement: Through platforms like our Wellness Wednesdays radio broadcast, Culture Champs Podcast, and community storytelling, we amplify voices, share healing-centered practices, and engage the public in collective change.
Our Approach
At HTC, we know that breaking the cycle of childhood adversity requires more than good intentions — it requires structure, strategy, and evidence. That’s why we ground our work in the Mindset-Theory-Action (MAP) approach, developed by Peter Gollwitzer. This proven framework describes goal pursuit in four distinct phases. By aligning our programs and services with these phases, we help youth, families, and communities move from vision to action to lasting change.
Why It Works
The MAP Framework ensures our work is not just inspiring, it’s also measurable, replicable, and sustainable.
It keeps us rooted in evidence while allowing youth, families, and communities to direct and take ownership of their healing journey—step by step.
